Frequently asked questions
Is my expense data stored in the cloud?
No. Apexpense stores your expenses, receipts, and mileage locally on your device. We do not operate a server that receives your financial records.
Does Apexpense work offline?
Yes. All core features — adding expenses, scanning receipts, logging mileage, and exporting reports — work without an internet connection.
Which tax year does Apexpense use?
Apexpense is built for the United Kingdom tax year running from 6 April to 5 April. Dashboard and report views reflect current and previous tax years.
Can I export data for my accountant?
Yes. Generate monthly, tax year, or custom-range reports and export as PDF (with receipt thumbnails) or CSV via the share sheet.
How do HMRC mileage rates work?
Apexpense applies HMRC-approved per-mile rates based on your vehicle type in Settings. You can override the rate on individual trips when needed.
How do I import receipts from other apps?
Use the Apexpense Share extension to send images or PDFs from Mail, Files, Safari, and other apps directly into your receipt inbox.
